This borehole filtration system in Luddenden, West Yorkshire, has multiple stages of treatment. Firstly, the water passes through a 300 litre pressure vessel, followed by an automatic backwashing pH correction unit which is installed to raise the pH to a level above 6.5. It then passes through a water softener (ion exchange unit) that regenerates using a brine solution. The function of this unit is to reduce the elevated levels of iron and manganese in the water. The final two stages of treatment comprise of a 5 micron particulate filter to remove any sediment before it passes through the ultraviolet unit which is in place to eliminate any bacterial contamination present in the water supply.
Water Testing
The starting point for any water treatment design is a representative water analysis that is complete and accurate. Using a UKAS Accredited Laboratory. Two of our engineers, here at Prosep Filter Services, have undergone formal training and are now certified to carry out water sampling to UKAS accredited standards.
