Barn Conversion: Water filtration system for borehole supply
This customer is based in rural Lincolnshire. As they are so remote their water is drawn from a borehole. When tested it ws found this borehole supply contained many contaminants.
The borehole water treatment system for this barn conversion, not only needed to supply this busy family with enough water to fulfil their day to day requirements, but also with a good combination of pressure and flow rate. We designed a bespoke multiple stage filtration system to reduce/remove these contaminants.
The first stage of treatment is a sediment reduction filter to remove any visible particles/dirt in the water. The second stage, an ion exchange unit is in place to reduce the iron, aluminium and hardness levels. The water then passes through an ultrafilter, which removes sub-micron particulate. This key stage was rquired because this particular borehole supply contains clay slip, which makes the water look milky.
Once all fine particulate has been removed, the water is then stored in a 500L potable water tank ready to be pumped through the UV filter when any tap/water outlet in the house is opened, giving the customer fresh, bacteria free, water.
Barn Renovation | Barn Conversion with private water supply?
If you are renovating or converting a barn with a private water supply and require advice, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We are happy to offer free advice over the phone or we can attend site to guide you through the process of treating your private water supply.
Water Testing
The starting point for any water treatment design is a representative water analysis that is complete and accurate. Using a UKAS Accredited Laboratory. Two of our engineers have undergone formal training and are now certified to carry out water sampling to UKAS accredited standards.
pH Correction
Water in which the pH is below 7 is acidic. Acidic water accelerates corrosion in pipe work, causes staining of baths, sinks and other appliances and can leave a distinctive ‘metallic’ taste to the water. For more information click here
Iron & Manganese Reduction
We offer a wide range of media designed for borehole water treatment. Each is generally specific for its duty and some may be used in conjunction with other medias, to enhance performance.
Hard Water
Any water supply that has a high mineral content, may be classed as hard water. The most common minerals that cause hard water are calcium and magnesium. These minerals are picked up by water, as it passes through (typically) limestone rocks, on its way down into the water table.
Bacteria
The UV-PRO range of ultra violet sterilisers are versatile units for domestic applications designed to kill waterborne bacteria using the proven method of exposure to ultra violet light.
Already have a system?
Not a problem! Prosep Filter Services have taken on many water treatment systems installed by other companies. If you are not happy with your current system, we are always happy to work with new customers. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
